Congressman John Rose, who represents Tennessee’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to address recent government funding negotiations and promote opportunities for students in his district.
On September 30, 2025, Rose commented on the ongoing debate over a potential government shutdown. He stated, “Wrong. Here’s the truth: @POTUS, @HouseGOP, and @SenateGOP did our job and voted to keep the government open. Passing it in the Senate requires 60 votes; Republicans hold 53. Yet, 212 House Democrats and 46 Senate Democrats voted against it. Democrats are willing to shut”.
Two days later, on October 2, Rose highlighted an event aimed at students interested in military service academies. He wrote, “Admission to our nation’s top military service academies is highly competitive. A congressional nomination can really make a difference.
If you or someone you know is interested (and you live in the 6th Congressional District), I hope you’ll attend Military Service Academy Day.”
Later that same day, he addressed claims regarding responsibility for a government shutdown by posting: “Democrats shut down the government over free healthcare for illegal aliens.”
John Rose has served as a member of Congress since replacing Diane Black in 2019 and continues to represent Tennessee’s 6th district. Born in Cookeville in 1965 and currently residing there at age 58, Rose holds degrees from Tennessee Technological University (BS) and Vanderbilt University (JD).
