Congressman John Rose, who represents Tennessee’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of statements on his social media account criticizing ongoing negotiations over government funding and placing responsibility for a government shutdown on Democratic lawmakers.

On October 20, 2025, Rose addressed reports of a potential bipartisan agreement, stating, “Compromise with @SenSchumer on a $1.5 trillion Dirty Deal that piles on debt and gives taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal immigrants? Absolutely not. The @HouseGOP did our job. It’s time Democrats do theirs.” In this post, he rejects cooperation with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer regarding the proposed deal.

Later that same day, Rose shared another message highlighting his perspective on the ongoing government shutdown: “Fixed it for you. Days Democrats have kept the government CLOSED are circled in red. The @HouseGOP is ready to work when Democrats come to their senses and reopen the government.”

On October 21, 2025, he referenced comments from Senator Schumer and contrasted them with constituent sentiment: “Chuck Schumer: ‘Every day gets better for us.’ Tennesseans would like a word.”

John Rose has represented Tennessee’s 6th congressional district since 2019 after succeeding Diane Black. He was born in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1965 and continues to reside there at age 58. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University (1988) and a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University (1993).
