Congressman John Rose, representing Tennessee’s 6th district since 2019, shared his perspectives on recent legislative matters via social media. His comments focused on the reconciliation bill and related fiscal policies.
On May 21, 2025, Congressman Rose stated his opposition to the reconciliation bill by expressing, “I am a ‘NO’ on the reconciliation bill in its current form.”
In another post from the same day, Rose criticized proposed changes to tax policy. He asserted that raising the SALT deduction benefits certain states at the expense of others. Specifically, he remarked, “Raising the SALT deduction is a bailout for Democrat Governors—paid for by red states with low taxes. Tennesseans should not foot the bill for New York and California’s mismanagement.”
Later that day, Congressman Rose addressed government assistance programs and work requirements. He emphasized his stance that able-bodied Americans receiving aid should be employed, stating “Americans who are able to work should be working if they are receiving government assistance. Ending waste, such as this will ensure that the money is there to help those who are truly vulnerable.” This aligns with his broader perspective on ensuring efficient use of government resources.
John Rose was born in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1965 and continues to reside there today. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1988 with a BS degree and later earned a JD from Vanderbilt University in 1993.
