Congressman John Rose, who represents Tennessee’s 6th district, has shared a series of tweets addressing current legislative priorities and initiatives. Born in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1965, Rose has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2019. His recent statements reflect his focus on tax policies and education reform.

On July 2, 2025, Congressman Rose discussed the significance of a proposal to eliminate taxes on overtime pay. He emphasized this initiative by noting a conversation with Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris regarding its impact on law enforcement personnel. “No tax on overtime pay is a big deal. I recently sat down with Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris to talk about the impact it will have on his deputies.”

Later that day, he addressed accountability within educational institutions through what he refers to as “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” This legislation aims to terminate tax breaks for affluent universities and impose taxes on large endowments while prioritizing working families over special interests. “It’s about time we hold woke schools and elites accountable.”

In another post from July 2nd, Congressman Rose criticized previous government spending policies related to healthcare procedures such as abortions and gender transition surgeries under Medicaid during President Biden’s administration. He advocates for legislative changes through “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” which seeks to prohibit taxpayer funding for these medical services. “Under the last administration, taxpayers were forced to foot the bill for abortions and so-called ‘gender transition’ procedures.”

Congressman John Rose was born in Cookeville and holds degrees from Tennessee Technological University and Vanderbilt University.
