Congressman John Rose, representing Tennessee’s 6th district since 2019, shared his views on social media regarding the One, Big, Beautiful Bill (OB3) and its implications for Medicaid and SNAP benefits. His statements highlight his stance on protecting certain welfare programs while scrutinizing others.
On June 16, 2025, Congressman Rose tweeted that “#OB3 doesn’t cut Medicaid–it protects it for seniors, kids, and the truly needy. Not freeloaders.” This statement suggests that the bill aims to safeguard Medicaid for specific groups while implying a need to prevent misuse by those he labels as “freeloaders.”
Later that day at 21:35 UTC, Rose criticized California and New York in another tweet: “If California and New York spent less time virtue-signaling and more time verifying SNAP eligibility, the Left wouldn’t be so mad about the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. No more food stamps for illegal immigrants. Full stop.” Here he accuses these states of prioritizing appearances over effective management of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility.
In a subsequent post at 23:35 UTC on the same day, Rose stated that “This is the bill that finally puts Americans ahead of illegals, elites, and bureaucrats.” This remark underscores his belief that OB3 prioritizes American citizens over non-citizens and government officials.
John Rose was born in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1965. He holds a BS from Tennessee Technological University (1988) and a JD from Vanderbilt University (1993).
