On Friday, June 24th, Deputies Matthew Duke and Dale Thaxton, were congratulated by Sheriff Ray Russell, on their graduation from Basic Police School at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. Duke and Thaxton completed a very strenuous twelve week course of instruction covering topics required for a Tennessee law enforcement cadet. Also, Deputy Duke received the “Brian Grisham Legacy Award”. The award voted on by classmates goes to the cadet that best exemplifies what it means to be a TLETA Basic Police School graduate. Deputies Duke and Thaxton will return to the Sheriff’s Office to begin field training with a training officer.
