For Immediate Release:
6/30/2022
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
Sumner County is issuing a Burn Ban for Sumner County effective immediately until we have a substantial amount of rainfall. Sumner County coordinated with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture & Division of Forestry regarding this decision. The ban applies to all open-air burning including leaf and woody debris and construction burning, campfires, outdoor grills and other fire activity outside of municipalities where local ordinances apply.
Our area is currently at a high risk for fire. Sumner County strongly discourages any personal use of fireworks due to the dry conditions. We ask residents to use extreme caution to prevent adjacent fields, yards, and brush from igniting. The risk of catastrophic damage due to fire is high due to the current dry conditions. Please take proper care and use caution when handling anything that produces heat or could produce a spark to prevent a fire.
Your attention to this manner is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Anthony Holt
Sumner County Mayor
