Freshman middle hitter Hazel Konkel garners Mid-South Conference Defender of the Week recognition.
The DuBois, Illinois native had 23 blocks in five matches, including one solo block in a win over St. Ambrose University. Konkel had an outstanding 12 blocks in the match against No. 4 Missouri Baptist University, helping the Phoenix take a set in the battle.
She also added 30 kills with an impressive .353 hitting percentage on the week.
This is the first time Konkel has received player of the week honors in her young career at Cumberland.
The Phoenix will be on the road this week for two conference matches. They will face Lindsey Wilson College on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 pm and then head over to Campbellsville University for a 6pm match on Friday, October 21
