Volunteer State Community College Celebrates the Fall 2022 Commencement

Volunteer State Community College hosted commencement to award 228 graduates’ degrees today, December 10 at 10 a.m. at the Pickel Field House on the Gallatin, TN campus. Although only 228 walked today in the ceremony, Vol State had a total of 591 who applied to graduate this fall. Of this group, 263 graduated with the help of the Tennessee Reconnect program and 304 graduated with the help of the Tennessee Promise program. This graduation class had students from 35 different birth countries and 29 students who are military veterans.

President Orinthia Montague joyfully presided over the ceremony this morning. The Distinguished Alumnus speaker was Mr. Drew Rowley.

A special Outstanding Graduate Award was given to Sleep Diagnostic Technology graduate, Cassandra Schumacher, who held a 4.0 GPA. Ms. Schumacher maintained a high level of involvement in student clubs and organizations, including serving as President of the Black Student Association, a member of the Academic Integrity and Academic Misconduct Committee, an Adult Peer Mentor to help other adult students navigate through their first year, and the Student Government Association.

From Sumner County Middle College High School, 35 seniors graduated with both their high school diploma and their associate degree today.
